Education City Stadium
- Project: Education City Stadium
- Client: Astad
- Location: Education city
Equipment/Machines used:
Floor grinders, scarifying machines, mixing machines, self-leveling compound.
Scope of work:
Prior to the world cup, it was decided that the already finished VIP/Sky box areas would be upgraded as part of this the height of the concrete floors had to be reduced by 20mm to allow for a different type of floor finish. JMCIs scope was to protect the existing finishes, reduce the height of the floor level as required and apply self-leveling to leave the areas ready for the new floor finishes.
How the work was executed:
The protection system was put in place first to ensure that existing ceiling and wall finishes remained undamaged during the work.
Once the existing carpet tiles were removed the first step was to reduce the height of the concrete floors by 20mm using scarifying machines which effectively plane the concrete down in layers of 3-4mm at a time.
Each area had the levels checked to confirm the desired height had been achieved at which point the final grinding took place to leave the areas ready for the application of the self-leveling compound. The areas were first primed/sealed, and the self-leveling material was applied to leave the areas ready for the new carpets to be installed.
