E-Ring Road Fly Over Demolition

Equipment/Machines used:
Crawler cranes, loading shovels, Wire saws, Coring machines, Manlifts, Scissors lifts, Mobile cranes, forklifts, excavators and telehandlers and trucks.

Scope of work:
The Job involved the demolition of 500m long steel framed bridge/flyover on the E-ring road near the medical commission. JMCIs scope was to provide a detailed method statement, lift plans and to fully dismantle/demolish the bridge. The steel structure of the bridge was to be handed over to Ashghal.

How the work was executed:
First, the approach ramps were removed using excavators and loading shovels to remove the concrete panels and backfill materials.

The concrete deck slab and barrier walls were demolished using excavators with jackhammers to systematically remove them from the middle back to each.

The bridge structure was then unbolted in sections. The sections weighed more than 40 tonnes and were lifted by utilizing two crawler cranes simultaneously to place them on the ground safely.

The large sections were further dismantled on the ground to get them ready for transportation and handover to Ashghal.
Finally, the demolition of the foundations took place, and the site was cleared and handed over to the client.
