Beautification of The Corniche
- Project: Beautification of The Corniche
- Client: UCC-Infraroad/Ashghal
- Location: Doha corniche
Equipment/Machines used:
Grinders, epoxy repair mortars, Micro concretes, repair mortars, mixers.
Scope of work:
The sea wall and exposed aggregate concrete walkways along the corniche had to be repaired as part of the upgrade works in preparation for the World cup.
How the work was executed:
A series of mock-ups were done to design a mixture that achieved a finished texture that best matched the existing finishes this was especially important for the exposed aggregate sidewalks.
In each area, the damaged concrete was identified by conducting a joint inspection between JMCI, the client and the consultant. Once the parts that required repair were identified the damaged concrete was isolated by cutting around it and the concrete was then removed by carefully chipping it out until all the compromised material was removed.
Next, the application of the repair materials took place. Great care was taken to ensure that surface preparation was done in the correct manner to ensure a strong repair bond. A variety of repair mortars were used for each element of the job.
